Looking Back: Germany

I had to opportunity to travel for work last October 2012 to Germany. It was an exhilarating experience to be out of the country to a non-APAC destination. Solo traveler to Europe first timer!

I arrived there Sunday morning and decided to stroll around Bad Homburg for a while. The weather was cold but not the skin freeze kind of thing so it was a great time to walk around. To my surprise, shops are actually closed during Sundays! I had to find something to eat and ended up with my travel biscuits lol.

Afternoon came and I met with an office colleague and a friend to tour around Frankfurt before Monday comes with a pile of work.

Friday ended early for us so my colleague and I was able to do the adventurous thing: ride the Bhan. Lol. No biggie to the travelers out there but during the business sessions, we went back and forth to our hotel through a colleague's car which saved us the hassle to brave into traffic and leaving very early. As we tried to go to the station, we looked through the bus stops sign but couldn't fathom where we should go. Turista mode! :)) Good thing an elderly German taught us how, though she speaks very little English, a younger woman came to our aid to translate what she was saying. She was so sweet she even dropped us off to the last station where we should go. We thanked her profusely but she just waved it away. What she said next really struck me, "I have all the time. That is all I have." It was a subtle nudge, a whispered reminder that we will not always be strong and do what we want. We should not take life for granted instead live it to the fullest. Meeting this woman was a blessing. Too bad we weren't able to get her name. Thank you and if fate allows it, hope we meet again. :)
Then time flew by so fast (didn't realized it until it was Saturday already), my last weekend came. I tried to walk around Bad Homburg to explore more and saw that they have a park nearby. We should have postcard picture worth parks here too! I really dig the strolling around or biking  carrying a book :p Autumn leaves are the prettiest! The closest we have here in the Philippines is the fire tree. Since we only have two seasons, would have to settle with that. Autumn is wonderful though. I love the warm hues everywhere.
One week was a bit too fast especially if you spent 5 days of it on work. Business travels are a double edged sword (lol - Samurai X anyone?)

I hope someday I could go back as a traveler. I would love to explore more. Traveling to Europe made me realize I can actually travel alone. And I would like to try it again, but maybe to a place that is a bit wallet-friendly. Fingers crossed.
