Cebu was a breath of fresh air. We were still in a city, same hot afternoon sun and concentrated traffic but without the over speeding jeeps. This was my first domestic travel (minus the province visits) and it was exhilarating to be able to create your own itinerary.
We went to Magellan's Shrine along with the statue of Lapu Lapu. Lapu-lapu was the datu of Mactan, the first Filipino who resisted the colonization of the Spaniards.
Cebu is known for creating guitars. We went to Susing's and got a tour of how they make it. We wanted to buy one but it was too expensive to us at that time and was totally out of the travel budget :p
And of course, what's the travel without the beach? Bantayan Island was beautiful. I wish though that their low tide is a bit later than 5:00 PM.
The 4-hour bus travel from Cebu city was worth it. I wish we could have stayed longer though.
Went back to Cebu City for a quick tour of Fort San Pedro.
Manila should have more parks and plazas. I imagine myself riding a bike or reading a book on places like these. Sometimes, we need to go out in the confines of our own home and walk aroung to think some things through.
Last stop was the Magellan's Cross at the back of the Sto. Nino Basilica.
Cebu provides a lot of city and nature trails. The Cebuanos are very lucky to have water near their city. They can just ride a boat, sail away and jump into the water. Wouldn't think twice to come back but will explore more of the Philippines before I go to the same place again. :)
I always see travels as an opportunity to get away, forget about a lot of things and just let them go. Cebu was an eye opener. The trip made me more inclined with myself, I had that "me" time fulfilled even though I went there with friends. Traveling for your work and exploring places would be really awesome, and that actually got me thinking why the heck am I where I am now. I don't know at the moment, but I will most certainly find out and my first step was to leave my work. Officially unemployed for 35 days.
Here's to new beginnings.
