We had a quick visit with some old churches when we went to Quiapo and China town. These structure are really a wonder and I'm thankful they were preserved. I wish that churches in Bohol and Cebu were spared during the 7.2 earthquake that hit the Philippines about 2 weeks back. After all, they are statements of our history. Praying for everyone who were affected by the earthquake.

Going to Chinatown was an excruciating long walk but it actually gave me a glimpse of how Manila is now. There were kalesas around, which reminded me that I haven't had a chance to ride one before, food places near the estuary, old building structures, a lot of alleys and and narrow roads. Walking through it makes me want to wear something of Maria Clara and fan myself to reduce the heat.
It amazes me how something so simple as walking around Manila gives you the idea how people lived long ago. Opening minds and enhancing the imagination, traveling does that to many of us.
